Black and white African Rhinos
Facts: There are five species of rhinos two African and three Asian. Both
species have two horns. The African species are the white and black

White Rhinoceros:  The White in this species' name is from the Dutch
word wijd which means wide. It refers to the White Rhinoceros's wide lip
compared to the Black Rhinoceros's pointed lip. The White Rhinoceros is
the largest of all five rhinoceros species. It has a longer and heavier head
than the other species.

Black Rhinoceros: The Black Rhinoceros has a beak shaped lip. The
Black Rhinoceros is similar in color to the White Rhinoceros.  The Black
Rhino is much smaller than the White Rhino.

Rhinos are herbivores, meaning plant eaters.

White rhinos, with their square-shaped lips, are ideally suited to graze on

Black rhinos prefer to eat the foliage of trees or bushes like a Giraffe.

Rhinoceros are killed by humans for their horns,  which are sold on the
black market.

Rhinoceros species are endangered partly because  they have been
hunted and killed for their horns alone.
The main difference
between black and
white Rhinoceros is
the shape of their
black rhino
