Facts: They are snakelike with long bodies. Unlike land
snakes, eels are usually scaleless, although a few
species can be found with tiny scales along their bodies.

The eels can swim forwards as well as backwards.


Some species of eels travel up to 4,000 miles to breed.
Adults die after breeding.

Adults range in weight from 30 grams to well over 25
kilograms.

Moray Eel is perhaps the most well-known eel with
over 100 species occupying tropical oceans worldwide.
They are nocturnal hunters.
